Vigna

Alto Adige single-vineyard wines – mission and passion

The word „Vigna“ on the label of an Italian wine designates a single-vineyard wine made from grapes harvested from one precisely demarcated parcel. At Tenuta J. Hofstätter, these wines embody the intrinsic quality and style of a specific vineyard – year after year.
Paolo Foradori was the first to introduce this classification in Alto Adige in 1987. His pioneering work led the wine estate to name the specific vineyard parcels on the labels of the Barthenau Vigna S. Urbano Pinot Nero and the Barthenau Vigna S. Michele Pinot Bianco.

Vigna today

Like his father Paolo, vintner Martin Foradori Hofstätter focuses both on tradition and terroir. Independent of passing market trends, he continues what has proven itself in the vineyard over decades. Today, the wines from the Kolbenhof, Rechtenthaler Schlossleiten, Steinraffler, Oberkerschbaum farmsteads as well as from the Pirchschrait vineyard parcel are also classified as Vigna.
